invited without obligation if you should wish to call in for a coffee
and a chat to discuss your needs. You are assured of a warm welcome
from either Matron, Mrs. Jennifer Chapman, the Unit Manager, Mrs.
Tracey Farrington or any of the staff, some of whom have worked
at the home since its' opening in 1991. Standing majestically in
acres of landscaped gardens and woodland, dating back to the 17th
century, the home was originally built as a family home, hence its
previous name Asmall House. It now boasts two purpose built extensions
designed to compliment its original homely comforts and situated
within two miles from the centre of Ormskirk. Only half a mile from
the bus stop but within easy reach of other community activities
by mini-bus or taxi, Asmall Hall is a haven for those with care
needs.

REGISTERED
and caring for both male and female clients we offer a relaxed but
staff competent environment including Qualified Nurses on duty for
each 24 hour period with the majority of Care Staff having N.V.Q.
qualifications. To maintain the high standard of care to our residents
we ensure our staff achieve these standards by ongoing training,
supervision and appraisal. They are continually reminded that our
residents' lives are for "Living" whatever their disability
and that we aim to provide many of the comforts you would wish for.
Bath and free-standing hoists are used where residents are unable
to take 75% of their own body weight to reduce the risk of resident
or staff injuries, and a shower trolley or chair is also available.

Asmall Hall Management are continually looking to improve the delivery
of care standards to best practice levels.
VISITING
is
open and refreshments are available. Obviously an occasional meal
or overnight stay for visitors travelling long distances may be
arranged, vacancy permitting. We do request however that generally,
visitors avoid mealtimes in order to respect the dignity and privacy
of other residents in the dining rooms but a small seperate visitor's
lounge is available as an alternative.

ACCOMMODATION:
The majority of bedrooms are single although there are
3 shared bedrooms if this is desired. Each room has a washbasin
and most rooms are en-suite or, if not, facilities are very close
by. Some have a full bathroom suite. All the rooms are fitted with
lockable outer doors and have a lockable drawer within the room.
Televisions are available in most bedrooms upon request or residents
may use their own TV set. Residents are always encouraged to personalise
their own rooms with treasured possessions of their choice (room
permitting and conforming to fire regulations) to encourage that
"Home from Home" feeling.
Vitally the
quality laundry service provided is monitored and
audited regularly but residents are requested to ensure all clothing
is labelled so that Laundry Staff are able to return clean items
as quickly as possible.
Although public telephones are situated around the home it is also
possible to have a personal line fitted at your own expense. The
home is equipped with a sophisticated fire detection system, alarms,
emergency lighting, central heating system, nurse call system and
cctv cameras on all exits as you would expect in a home of this
quality.
